What is Commercial Photography?

Commercial Photography 

Commercial photo mean is which photos are used to commercial purpose. Commercial photos are used in advertising, commercial photos can be used anywhere like, billboards, films, products, marketing, services, newspapers, consumer or merchandising products, posters, magazines, books or notbooks cover, etc, everywhere to sell or promote something.

You can shoot of anything as a commercial photo like nature, animals, underwater, flowers and plants, landscape, sunset, drone photos, person, objects, design, graphics, lifestyle, activity, buildings, city, etc.

If you shoot a photo of any person and any property like a building or interior design as a commercial photo. So, you must get permission of that model and property owner, and must fill model release and property release form. Otherwise your photo will be reject by stock photography agencies.

Commercial photos are mostly shoot in a studio.

You can take photos of any category. Such as, you can shoot of fruits which are on a table, you can take photo of model which is sitting on chair or standing on floor.

You can take photos of anything of any category. But make sure, that photo has no any logo, no any name on that photo, no any identification, no any people, no any identification numbers, no any license plates, no any property, even no any tattoo design, etc.

You can edit commercial photos as you want. You can remove logo with Photoshop and LightBox, but make sure, you cannot commercialize any identification thing. For example, if you shoot a photo of a Adidas shoes and you remove the Adidas logo of that shoes and then upload that photo as commercial photo, it will not work. And the second example is that you shoot a photo of a Jaguar car and if you remove the logo, if you remove the license plate, if you change color, if that car design is patented, trademarked, copyrighted by the Jaguar company you can not upload that photo as a commercial.

These strategies will not work. Because these type of photos are editorial photos. If you want to try these things then the stock photography agencies will reject your these type of photo. You cannot edit identified things much.

A seller use commercial photo on their product logo and promote a product and sell a product for commercial profit. The customer does not have the budget to hire their own photographer, that's why the customer use commercial photos for their commercial and personal work.

Requirement 

For some category photos you must upload some release form that are:

Model Release 

Model release form is for above 18 years old people.

If you want to take photos of a men or a women which age is above 18 years. So, you must get permission of that model. You must fill a model release form which you need write there photographer information and that model's detail. Such as name, address, phone number signature, and you need a witness and his name and signature. Otherwise your photo will be reject by stock photography agencies.

Minor Model Release

Minor model release form is for people younger than 18 years.

If you want to take photos of a boy or a girl which are under 18 years . So, you must get permission of that minor model's guardian. You must fill a minor model release form which you need write there photographer information and that minor model's detail. Such as name, address, signature of minor model's guardian, and you need a witness and his name and signature. Otherwise your photo will be reject by stock photography agencies.

Property Release 

Property release form is for any commercial property.

If you want to take a photo of any property. So, you must get permission of that property owner. You must fill a property release form which you need write photographer information and that property owner detail. Such as name, address, signature, description of property, and you need a witness and his name and signature. Otherwise your photo will be reject by stock photography agencies.
